Springvale PharmacyUnfortunately Springvale Pharmacy owner Eric Norgbey, although one of five UK finalists for this national prestigious award made by The Countryside Alliance, he did not come away with the Award this year.

The ceremony for the ‘Rural Oscars’ was held on 3 February at a packed parliamentary reception at the House of Lords.

The ‘Rural Hero’ Award 2009 was handed to Lincolnshire’s Agricultural Chaplain, Rev Canon Alan Robson a role he has held for 10 years.

The competition now in its fifth year attracted 2500 nominations from across the UK for all seven categories.

These countryside awards recognise the people that really work hard to make their local communities tick across the UK.

Since 2007 Eric and his wife have been building their reputation and that of the Springvale Pharmacy.

They brought a breath of fresh air, combined with traditional customer service and values.

Large numbers of residents in Kings Worthy and the surrounding area recognised the importance of the local pharmacy and were inspired by Eric’s approach, consideration and first class customer service.

Despite his obvious disappointment, Eric said ‘’it was really excellent to have got so far in the competition, and it was the community that made it all possible with their continued support for the pharmacy. We will continue to provide our acknowledged quality service to all our customers.’’

More information on the Awards 2009 is available online.

The 2010 Awards open to public nomination in September.
