Hampshire County Council Concessionary Fares (Bus Passes) Consultation

This page was last updated on Sunday, August 1, 2010

Hampshire County Council LogoThe way in which concessionary bus passes are to be managed is changing.

The government has decided that responsibility for the English National Concessionary Travel Scheme (Bus Passes) for older people and people with disabilities should move from District Councils to County Councils (i.e from Winchester City Council to Hampshire County Council) from the 1 April 2011.

The scheme currently allows those over the age of 60 and living in Winchester City Council district to travel on buses, using their bus pass, between 9am and 11pm, whereas the English National Concessionary Travel Scheme only allows travel from the later time of 9.30 am to 11pm.

The details of the new scheme are due to be agreed by the County Council in October 2010 and as part of this decision making process HCC would like to consult you on what the new scheme should consist of.

The consultation feedback form will firstly provide you will some background information about the current concessionary fare scheme and then sets out a number of consultation options.

You will then be given the opportunity to respond to these.

HCC are particularly interested in your views about potential implications and priorities.

The survey form can be obtained here Concessionary Fares Consultation feedback form.

It should be completed and return by 31 August 2010 in hard copy or electronically to Mark Miller at the address shown below.
