TV Transmission Van Following the official opening by the Mayor of Winchester of the new Over 60’s

Fitness Area, on Friday 4 September there has been immense media interest.

On Tuesday 8 September BBC South Today came to Kings Worthy with Sara Thornton, one of BBC South Today’s weather presenters, to do a live broadcast from the newly opened area.

A team of 3 cameramen/engineers and the producer turned up at about 5.45pm with their mobile TV transmission vehicle, which parked in the car park behind Tubbs Hall

and erected a 40 foot high satellite aerial.

Sarah arrived shortly afterwards and some time was then spent on “rehearsals”. Rehearsals

This involved checking camera angles, light levels and various positions for

Peter Warrener Chairman of Kings Worthy Parish Council who Sarah was to interview about the new facility.

At around 6.40pm the programme went out live on BBC South Today

with Peter Warrener answering Sarah’s questions about the new facility in Kings Worthy, the first in Hampshire.
