| Winchester City Council is thinking about the future and about change.
It is looking ahead until 2026 to promote the creation and maintenance of sustainable communities through a range of policies and proposals for change, improvement and development in the District.
It is now in the process of preparing the Local Development Framework and the Community Strategy for the District which is a mechanism for delivering the aspirations of the community.
The LDF will be a folder of documents setting out guidelines for spatial development in Winchester, eventually replacing the Local Plan Review (2006).
The Core Strategy is the part of the Local Development Framework that sets out the broad aims and objectives for sustainable development in the Winchester District covering the period up until 2026.
The Preferred Option sets out for the first time the complete Core Strategy, including the detailed wording of policies and proposals, and the allocation of key sites across the District for development over the next twenty years.
The council is undertaking a public consultation for the Core Strategy Preferred Option which is taking place between Thursday 14th May and Friday 3rd July 2009.
Copies of the document are available at all libraries and Winchester City Council Offices.
A series of exhibitions are taking place around the District during this time frame to provide information on the content and role of the Core Strategy.
At the exhibitions officers will be available to answer questions about the Core Strategy and the LDF in general. In the worthys area these will be held at the following locations:
