Worthys Conservation Volunteers whose members do fantastic work in respect of conservation of wildlife and the natural environment within our local community have recently seen a wanton act of vandalism to one of their latest projects.
A recently installed bench on the public footpath 502 in Kings Worthy has been severely cut with a handsaw.

In addition several nearby trees have been hacked, sliced and left in a hazardous position, so much so that they have had to be removed.
The benches installed along this footpath by the conservation volunteers, which is a very popular walk used by many local people, enables them to rest and enjoy the views.
This despicable act of ignorance and selfishness is a total disregard for other people’s enjoyment.

Bruce Graham, Co-ordinator of the Worthys Conservation Volunteers said
‘I implore the individual or individuals who did this to come forward and make amends for this utter stupidity. We can offer him or them plenty of opportunities to cut trees with greater vigour and more purpose than this random effort, by joining one of our project tasks. So stand up and be counted, come and join us to do some real good for the community and its wildlife habitats.’
Similarly if you simply want to get involved in future conservation projects undertaken by the group, then please email: enquiries@worthysconservationvolunteers.org.uk.
