The essential work on Nations Hill, being undertaken by Southern Gas Networks to replace the existing metallic gas mains with modern plastic ones will last for at least the next two weeks.
The current works, involving the 3 way traffic diversion at the junction of Nations Hill and Springvale Road should be completed by next week, Wednesday 22 July.
The other work involves installing new service connections where necessary, to each house on Nations Hill.
This is continuing concurrently and is expected to be completed within two weeks.
SGN’s site engineer is aware of the time taken to complete the project, which has been down to a number of technical difficulties encountered on the project.
He has said that all efforts are being made to ensure a speedy completion of the work and SGN apologise for the inconvenience, caused to local residents and the community.
Meanwhile particular attention is being made to ensure that traffic can flow freely through the works.
In addition investigations are being made with HCC and the police to redirect HGV's who it appears, at present are using Church Lane / Nations Hill to get to Springvale. |
