The predicted snow arrived with a vengeance across the region causing severe delays in the last few days.

In view of the severe weather conditions, life in the Worthys is going to be disrupted for a little longer as low temperatures continue.

Further snowfalls are predicted for the end of the week.

As of today Wednesday 4 February, most buses are running in Winchester area, including The Spring, with some delays due to local diversions.

For timetable queries please consult Traveline on 0871 200 22 33.

For general enquiries only for Hampshire buses call 0845 121 0190. Or click here for current details.

All rail services within the area are running a normal weekday service – with some delays due to ice and snow, contact South West Trains for further information.

Please bear in mind that all the emergency services will be still overstretched at the moment so don’t call them out unless it’s absolutely necessary.

The Met Office advice is not to travel unless it’s absolutely vital.

Whilst most public roads in the Worthys are currently now passable footpaths where they exist are still dangerous due to the compacted snow turning into ice. Extra care is needed by all pedestrians.

Kings Worthy Parish Office is currently staffed but this may not be the case should conditions deteriorate.

Please call the office on 884150 for assistance – if the answer phone is on, there may be no one available to take your call.

In case of any snow-related problem in the area, contact Winchester City Council on 01962 840 222 or click here to keep up to date.

HCC Highways continue to have its whole fleet of gritting lorries out early mornings and evenings on key routes.

For information and advice on the current roads situation in our area use this link HCC Highways and to find which roads have been salted.

If you have elderly neighbours, please keep an eye on them and make sure they are OK.

Please also remember the wild garden birds – if you can throw some food out for them, they will appreciate it!

On a lighter note, if you have any photos of the Worthys in the snow (snowmen, snow angels, general scenery, etc.) and you would like to let us have them for the photo gallery, please email them to the webteam@tlc-online.co.uk.

Do not forget to include location of the photo and your contact details.
