| Garden Waste Bag |
Some villagers may have experienced not all of their garden waste bags being collected in the last month or so.
Those who use Winchester City Council’s Garden Waste Collection service under the Alternate Bin Collection Scheme should be aware that after a long ‘bedding in’ period, the Council have now tightened up the rules.
The scheme commenced some four years ago when each household was provided with one free green waste bag which is emptied along with the recyclables bin on alternate weeks.
Extra bags could be purchased from Serco (the Council’s contractor) at a cost of £25 for one bag or £75 for two; otherwise it is only one free bag collection per household.
The collection teams now check against a list that the additional bags have been purchased from Serco, if this is not the case then any additional bags are now left behind.
