Headbourne Worthy Parish Councillors Stephens, Curling and Kings Worthy Parish Councillor Warrener attended a recent Stakeholders Workshop held by CALA Homes, regarding the proposed Barton Farm Development.
The workshop was part of the planning consultation process required by Winchester City Council and its adopted (SCI) Statement of Community Involvement.
The purpose of the workshop was not to debate the principle of development – that will be decided through the planning process once an application has been submitted – it was to discuss what form of development should take place, and how it could integrate successfully with the local community, if planning permission was granted.
CALA Homes confirmed its commitment to the project and expects to submit an outline planning application for its master plan later in the year.
They expect it to take about three years before a full consent is likely and initial thoughts are being displayed with an open mind, bearing in mind the site constraints.
The consultation process will include this stakeholder’s workshop, focus groups, two newsletters, two days of public exhibition in April of its draft master plan, a project website, www.barton-farm.co.uk and the preparation of a detailed public consultation report.
In the meantime the Save Barton Farm Group are organising a petition to 10 Downing Street following its successful public march through Winchester on 14 March. |
