‘The All Clear’ -
School Lane after work had been completed by Hampshire County Council |
School Lane had become dangerously overgrown along its length by overhanging trees, hedges and shrubs.
Headbourne Worthy Parish Council recently arranged for HCC Highways to cut back the vegetation.
Having cleared the offending greenery, the Highways team are due to return to clear blocked drainage channels and reclaim the road surface that in places has vanished beneath up to 1.2m wide of mud and grass adding to the road safety hazards.
Rosemary Stephens Headbourne Worthy Parish Council Chairperson commented,
’’ We were extremely pleased with the quick response from HCC Highways in resolving this issue. It has made access from local residents side drives into the Lane much safer, improved visibility and made the passing places usable once again, greatly improving road safety in School Lane.
It provides a timely reminder at this time of year, to residents and landowners that maintaining hedges and trees on their property, adjacent to public footpaths and roads is actually their responsibility, not the Council’s.’’
