RA/09/32 Apologies for Absence

Apologies for absence had been received from Cllr Welstead. Cllr Cox did not attend

RA/09/33 Public Question Time

The Chairman of the Worthies Sports and Social Club outlined details of the proposed display of classic cars and bikes in the summer and sought permission to park the vehicles on the grass adjacent to the clubhouse.

 

Members were supportive of the proposal. They expressed their concerns regarding damage to the junior football pitches if the weather were to be wet. Scheduling the event in May at the end of the football season would be preferable; however August would be acceptable this year if the number of vehicles were restricted.

 

Members agreed in principle to the proposal pending ratification by the PC.

RA/09/34 Minutes of the Meeting held on 5 March 2009

The minutes were agreed as true record of the meeting were signed by Cllr Sign.

RA/09/35 Matters Arising from the Meeting of the 5 March 2009

 

  • RA/09/26 Springvale Road Bus Shelter – Cllr Sign reported that the repair to the bus shelter had been completed

 

  • RA/09/26 The Green - The Finance Committee had approved the cost of mulching the flower beds.

 

  • RA/09/26 Broadview – Cllr Sign reported that the resident whose property backs onto Broadview had undertaken the work on pruning the conifer hedge at his expense.

  • RA/09/26 Meeting with the WSSC – a useful review meeting with the WSSC had been held on the 18 March 2009.

  • RA/09/26 Litter – Cllr Sign and the clerk had investigate the report of litter adjacent to Eversley Park from the WCV’s and were pleased to report that there were no further accumulations.

RA/09/36 Burial Ground Registrar’s Report

Members noted the report.

RA/09/37 Project Updates

The clerk tabled a project status report [Copy attached].

  • Eversley Park – All Weather Court – Cllr Marshall is compiling the specification for this project. Cllr Sign reported back on a seminar which she and the clerk had attended and had obtained details of fencing and surfacing. The clerk was asked to arrange a meeting with the suppliers.
    Action – the clerk

  • Eversley Park – Entrance Improvements to the Bottom Football Pitch – the clerk reported that the revised specification had now been sent out to tender.

  • Church Green – Cllr Sign reported on the progress of the contractor. The new bus shelter had now erected. She shared with members the problems associated with the provision of power and water to the site. Members agreed that only water should be made available.

  • Equipment for the Over 60’s – Cllr Sign reported that the contractor is to start work on the 20 April 2009.

 

RA/09/38 Litter Pick

Members congratulated Cllr White on the success of the litter pick. Over 20 volunteers took part. It was agreed that the scheduling of another event later this year should be deferred to the Autumn.

Those who took part expressed their concerns over the number of dog faeces in bags that they had found which were not placed in dog bins. The clerk had received a request for an additional bin in North Road.

It was agreed that the clerk prepare a location map of the existing bins in the village for publication in the newsletter and on the web-site for the information of dog walkers, before any new bins were agreed. Action – the clerk

RA/09/39 Football Pitch and Burial Ground Fees 2009-10

 

Under the Code of Conduct Cllr White declared a prejudicial interest in the Worthies Youth Football Club and left the room

Members discussed the level of football pitch fees for the coming season and agreed not to recommend any increase due to the current financial climate. They considered that the increase in the parish precept more than compensated for any additional costs of maintaining the pitches.

 

Similarly they recommended no increase in burial ground fees.

RA/09/40 Clerks Notices

  • The Green – Youth Event – a request had been received from Jackie Porter to hold a youth event in the summer. Members gave approval in principle and indicated that they wish to actively encourage similar events in the future. Action – the clerk

RA/09/41 Chairman’s Notices

  • Newsletter - Cllr James and White are proposing to publish the next edition in June.
    Action – Cllrs James and White

  • Web-site - Cllr James informed members that she is preparing guidelines for the web-site for discussion at the next PC meeting. Action – Cllr James

  • Cllr James expressed her continuing concerns over the status of the RSS feed. It was agreed that she should clarify the frequency of payments for the software and survey other PC web-sites on their use of such software. Action – Cllr James

  • Fraser Road – Cllr James highlighted the inconsistency with the footpath crossing from Mountbatten Place. Members asked the clerk to highlight this with the highway authority. Action – the clerk

 

RA/009/42 Date of next meeting

The next meeting was scheduled at 7.30 pm on the 7 May 2009.

The meeting closed at 9.26pm.
