RA/08/71 Apologies for Absence

Apologies for absence had been received from Cllrs Cox and Marshall. Cllr Sign welcomed the Chairman of the Parish Council, Cllr Warrener, to the meeting.

RA/08/72 Public Question Time

None

RA/08/73 Minutes of the Meeting held on 11 June 2008.

The minutes were agreed as a true record of the meeting and were signed by Cllr Sign.

RA/08/75 Matters Arising from the Meeting of the 11 June 2008.

  • RA/08/65 Fryers Close – Members expressed their concerns regarding the lack of maintenance of the area. The problems had been highlighted with WCC without success. Members asked the clerk to raise the issue with our two city councillors. Action – the clerk

  • The clerk was also asked to check the usage of the dog bin in Fraser Road and to investigate the possibility of moving it to Fryers Close. Action – the clerk

  • RA/08/68 Football Pitches – Cllr Sign hoped that the recent spell of wet weather would facilitate the renovation work on the football pitches at Eversley Park.

  • RA/08/68 Lovedon Lane Bus Shelter – Cllr Sign suggested that she and the clerk survey the shelters on Lovedon Lane. Action – Cllr Sign/clerk

 

RA/08/75 Burial Ground

Members noted the registrar’s report for the last quarter.

 

Cllr Sign informed members that the four compost bins were now in place.           

RA/08/76 Project Updates

The clerk tabled a project status report [copy attached].

  • Eversley Park – Entrance to the Bottom Football Pitch – Cllr Sign hoped that our section of the car park could be re-surfaced as part of this project. Members felt that the WSSC should be given the opportunity to include the re-surfacing of their portion of the car park. Action – the clerk

 

  • Firs Crescent/Fryers Close – Members agreed that the possibility of the parish maintaining these two areas should be investigated to avoid problems associated with the poor level of performance by WCC’s contractor. Action – the clerk

  • Church Green – Cllr Sign highlighted the success of the public consultation evening. She thanked the members who were able to attend and Cllr White who had distributed the invitations. The clerk was also asked to write to Tim Griffin, the landscape architect, thanking him for his involvement. Action – the clerk

Members discussed the summary of the feed-back forms and ratified the majority view. Refurbishment of the area of grey poplars in the far corner should be included. The clerk was asked to arrange a further meeting with the landscape architect. Action – the clerk

 

Land off Hookpit Farm Lane [Top Field] – Cllr Sign and the clerk outlined the latest proposal from the developer. Members agreed that every effort should be made to bring the area into the ownership of the PC. The proposal is to be put to the next meeting of the PC for ratification. Action – the clerk

 

RA/08/77 Web-site

Cllr James reported that the designer is working to complete the web-site and anticipated “live date” is now August 2008.

RA/08/78 Newsletter

Cllr James regretted the delay in the publication of the newsletter which was due her hospitalisation. She anticipated that it would be with the printers within the next two weeks.

 

Members discussed the inclusion of an article supporting the pharmacy. It was agreed that a short paragraph reminding parishioners to “use it or loose it” was appropriate. This would be in place of the forthcoming meeting dates in the newsletter. Action – Cllr James

RA/08/79 Clerks Notices

  • Handyman – Stan Howell had agreed to undertake the duties of handyman and will start in September. 

  • Football Pitch Fees – Members agreed the revised level of pitch fees for the 2008/9 season.

 

RA/08/80 Chairman’s Notices 

 

  • Project Review – Cllr Sign highlighted the extensive list of projects undertaken by the committee over the past three years. She congratulated and thanked members.
     
  • Bus Stops – Cllr Warrener shared with members his concerns regarding the non-replacement of some rusty bus stop signs by HCC. The clerk was asked to raise the issue with Jackie Porter. Action – the clerk 

  • Plastic Bags – Cllr Welstead asked that members consider an initiative to encourage shops in the village not to issue plastic bags to customers. The clerk was asked to research the project. Action – the clerk 

RA/08/81 Date of next meeting

Members agreed that the annual walkabout should take place on Thursday 14 August at 6 pm.


The next meeting was scheduled at 7.30 pm on the 10 September 2008.

The meeting closed at 9.20 pm.
