RA/08/12 Apologies for Absence

Apologies for absence had been received from Cllrs Cox and Welstead.

RA/08/13 Public Question Time

The two members of the public asked that councillors consider the provision for a playground within the parish for the over 60’s. A petition signed by 24 parishioners had been received in the parish office requesting such a facility similar to that which had received media coverage in Manchester.

 

Councillors were supportive of such a scheme and agreed to investigate the various options. The discussion covered the location of equipment, health and safety and liaison with parishioners at the Luncheon Club and Coffee Morning.

RA/08/14 Minutes of the Meeting held on 9 January 2008.

The minutes were agreed as a true record of the meeting with two amendments –RA/08/03 & RA/08/04 delete “11” insert “14” - and were signed by Cllr Sign.

RA/08/15 Matters Arising from the Meeting of the 9 January 2008

  • RA/08/07 Junior Football – a further meeting had been held with Andy Court which failed to highlight any new initiatives.

RA/08/16 Project Updates

The clerk tabled a project status report [copy attached].


Cllr James asked that the listing include the Web-site.
Action – the clerk

  • Eversley Park – Members agreed that options for the re-surfacing of the All-weather court should be investigated.
    Action – the clerk

  • Church Green – WCC had approved the fee of the landscape architect from OS Funding.

    Cllr Brockway outlined a proposal for a commemorative plaque for the Vulcan Iron Works. He is also meeting with a representative of the WCV’s to discuss various aspects of the area. Members agreed that the developers sign should be removed.

  • Hinton Fields – Members agreed to the request from the School for an additional removable bollard to allow access for wider mowing equipment, provide that they fund the cost.

  • Notice Boards – Members agreed that authority be sought from the PC to accept the quotation from Scandor for the erection of the new notice boards as our handyman was unable to undertake the task. Action – Cllr Sign

  • Abbots Worthy Bus Shelter – Members agreed the wording for the plaque and asked that the clerk seek approval for the revised quotation and that Cllr Cox’s kind offer of funding should be declined. Action – the clerk

  • Kim Bishop Walk – the damage to the new gate had been of a minor nature. Cllr Brockway with Alan Audsley had agreed to undertake the repair.

  • Broadview – Scandor had agreed to remove further dead wood. Cllr Brockway is seeking advice on the wild flower area and an information board.

  • Burial Ground – Scandor are to clear the shrub areas on a phased basis within the existing contract. Members asked the clerk to seek approval for the new compost bins and gravel around the holly. Action – the clerk

    Members agreed that the Mayor should be asked to open the two new play areas and bus shelter. Action – the clerk

RA/08/17 Future Projects

The clerk circulated details of the Open Space Projects for 2008-9 which had been submitted to WCC.

 

The Finance Committee had indicated that a 3 year programme of parish funded projects would be desirable. Initial suggestions from councillors included seats, bus-shelters and signage on public open spaces. Cllrs Warrener and James suggested that street lighting should be included.

RA/08/18 Over 60’s Playground

Councillors confirmed their agreement to appraise this proposal. Cllr Sign and the clerk agreed to research the project.

RA/08/19 Parish Office Notice Board

Cllr Brockway and the clerk agreed to research options.

RA/08/20 Web-site

Cllr James updated members as to the progress to date.

 

Members agreed to the desirability of a listing of PC Achievements and an alphabetic listing of village amenities. They considered that a joint meeting with Headbourne Worthy PC would be unproductive at this stage.

RA/08/21 Clerks Notices

  • Worthies Sports ands Social Club – a request had been received for members views on the siting of a container for junior football at Eversley Park and sponsorship for anti-vandal paint for the shed.

    Members agreed that discussion should take place directly with the junior football and that no sponsorship should be considered until the state of repair of the shed had been established.

  • Kings Worthy Primary School – Members agreed that the request for a path across Eversley Park and other associated proposals from the school should be discussed at the next meeting.
    Action – the clerk

RA/08/22 Chairman’s Notices

  • Bollards – Cllr Warrener requested that the provision of dragon’s teeth be considered to prevent vehicles damaging the grass verges within the village. Members suggested that this should be discussed at the next Planning Committee meeting.
    Action – the clerk

  • Newsletter – Members agreed that the next edition of the newsletter should be published in April.

The next meeting was scheduled at 7.30 pm on the 12 March 2008.

The meeting closed at 9.45 pm.
