at Kings Worthy Community Centre, Fraser Road, Kings Worthy

RA/07/38 Apologies for Absence

Apologies for absence were received from Cllrs Howell, James and Warrener.

RA/07/39 Minutes of the Meeting held on 11 April 2007.

The minutes were agreed as a true record of the meeting and were signed by Cllr Sign.

RA/07/40 Public Question Time

None

RA/07/41 Matters Arising from the Meeting of the 11 April 2007

  • RA/07/23 Football – Members agreed to a draft letter to be sent to Andrew Court, enclosing the responses from the Grounds Supervisor’s report to his suggested pitch maintenance schedule.
    Action – the clerk

Members agreed that a copy of the Grounds Supervisors report should be forwarded to Scandor. Action – the clerk

Discussion took place on the formation of further junior football teams and their affect on the pitches.

  • RA/07/36 Henry Beaufort Multi-Use Games Area – the clerk had received clarification from Stuart Dunbar-Dempsey [WCC] that Open Space monies could be donated to the project as it was classified as a district sports facility. It would have to fund an outdoor recreation facility.

Members agreed that up to £1,000 could be donated to the project. The clerk was asked to write to the school to identify a specific item of equipment to which we could contribute.

RA/07/42 Project Updates

  • Church Green – Members asked the clerk to arrange a site meeting with Stuart Dunbar-Dempsey to discuss the issues raised at the site meeting with representatives of the Church.
    Action – the clerk

Cllr Brockway suggested that this project be given priority as it had a significant impact on the village.

  • Eversley Park – A meeting had been arranged with a representative of a playground equipment supplier to discuss the draft proposals for the children’s playground.

    Members discussed the quotation received for installing new basketball posts and re-marking the area and asked the clerk to seek an alternative quotation.
    Action – the clerk

  • Firs Crescent – the landscape architect had commenced work on the scheme design.

  • Fryers Close – the project was now out to tender with a submission date of the 31 May 2007.

  • Fraser Road Children’s Play Area – the draft proposals are to be discussed at the meeting on Eversley Park.

  • Hinton Fields – Cllr Sign asked the clerk to arrange for the trees for felling to be marked by the Grounds Supervisor, so that it is clear to contractors who are to quote for the work.
    Action – the clerk

The clerk reported that the five-bar gate at the Hinton Drive end of Hinton Park had been damaged beyond repair. The clerk was asked to obtain quotations for the installation of bollards [dragon’s teeth].

The owner of No.18 Hinton Fields had asked for work to be undertaken on the trees adjacent to her property. Members agreed that advice should be sought from our Grounds Supervisor.
Action – the clerk

  • Willis Waye – the clerk reported that responses had been received from residents with regard to improvements to the area.

 

  • Notice Boards – Additional quotations had been obtained for consideration at the Finance Committee. Members still favoured the construction using man-made timber due to its low maintenance costs. Cllr Sign agreed to attend the Finance meeting in place of Cllr Marshall who would be on holiday.

 

  • Bus Shelters – Members agreed that the clerk should obtain agreement in principle from the Finance Committee for the installation of a more suitable wood construction for Abbots Worthy. Cllr Johnston should be asked to discuss options and funding with Philip Windsor-Aubrey.

RA/07/42 Project Updates Cont.

  • Newsletter – Cllr Brockway expressed his concerns that residents living on the outskirts of the village were not receiving copies of the newsletter due to the logistical problems of delivery. Members agreed that a statement be included in the next issue indicating that copies could be collected from the parish office.

 

RA/07/43 Clerks Notices

 

  • Kim Bishop Walk - the clerk had received complaints regarding the nuisance caused by motorbikes using this footpath. Members agreed that the clerk should seek advice from the HCC Rights of Way Department on a suitable gate which would deter such activity.
    Action – the clerk

 

RA/07/44 Chairman’s Notices

Youth Football Presentation Evening – Cllr Sign had received complimentary tickets from Andrew Court for this event to be held on the 18 May 2007. Members were asked if they wished to attend.

RA/07/45 Date of next meeting

The next meeting was scheduled at 7.30 pm on the 13 June 2007.

The meeting closed at 9.32 pm.
