Minutes of the Meeting held on Monday, 14th November 2007
at Kings Worthy Community Centre, Fraser Road, Kings Worthy

RA/07/87 Apologies for Absence

Apologies for absence had been received from Cllrs James, Marshall and Welstead.
Cllr Sign welcomed Cllr Cox to the committee.

RA/07/88 Public Question Time

None

RA/07/89 Minutes of the Meeting held on 10 October 2007.

The minutes were agreed as a true record of the meeting and were signed by Cllr Sign.

RA/07/90 Matters Arising from the Meeting of the 10 October 2007

  • RA/07//87 Ground Supervisor’s Report – Cllr Brockway reminded members of the need to included the hedgerow and wild-flower work at Broadview within the project programme.
    Action – the clerk

  • 2008/9 Budget – Cllr Sign had attended the budget meeting and reported that a sum of £5,500 had been included in the draft budget for capital projects.

 

RA/07/91 Project Updates

The clerk tabled a project status report [copy attached].

  • Eversley Park and Fraser Road - New Playground Equipment – the clerk circulated the tender responses that WCC had approved for Open Space funding. Members agreed with the recommendations and asked the clerk to place the order.
    Action – the clerk

  • Fryers Close – Landscape Improvements - the clerk circulated the conditions from WCC for the scheme to proceed. Members agreed with the terms and asked the clerk to proceed with the implementation.

    The clerk was asked to confirm that the maintenance of the area is retained by WCC.

In response to Cllr Brockway, the clerk confirmed that WCC had not amended the scheme.

  • Church Green – Members asked the clerk to arrange a site meeting with the landscape architect to review the work to be undertaken when the land passes to the ownership of the PC.
    Action – the clerk

  • Notice Boards – Members agreed to the removal of the old boards at Willis Waye and Gillingham Close. They also confirmed that the new board on Fraser Road should be erected adjacent to the shops.
    Action – the clerk

    Members discussed the location of a new board outside the school. It was agreed to collect additional evidence to support the proposal.

  • Kim Bishop Walk – Members highlighted their concerns regarding the trees on the bank. It was agreed that a site meeting be arranged with the Grounds Supervisor to review the situation.

RA/07/92 Newsletter

The latest edition had been published this month. Members were delighted with the content and looked forward to receiving responses from parishioners on the issues raised.

RA/07/93 Web-site

Cllr Sign was encouraged by the recent meeting to discuss the web-site. The clerk was asked to clarify the status of the councillor profiles.

RA/07/94 Clerks Notices

  • KW Primary School – Maintenance Access Gate – a request had been received to allow access onto the school field via Hinton Park as the existing access is to be withdrawn with the sale of Hinton House.

Cllr Brockway outlined the options and it was agreed that the school could use the track in Hinton Park to an existing gate. Cllr Sign asked the clerk to inform the school and remind them of their duty of care to the area.

  • Grounds Supervisor’s Inspection – Members agreed that a further inspection should take place before the year end.

RA/07/95 Chairman’s Notices

  • Recreation Area Trees – Cllr Sign emphasised the need for the trees in the ownership of the PC to be maintained in a satisfactory condition to avoid problems in the future.

  • Bus Stops and Shelters – Cllr Warrener noted that the bus stops on the estate had not been replaced as part of the recent refurbishment of others in the village. He will raise the issue at the forthcoming Transport meeting.

Members were concerned at the recent damage to the shelters on Springvale Road and Lovedon Lane.

  • BT Telephone Box Springvale Road – Cllr Sign reported that BT is to refurbish this telephone box.

 

RA/07/96 Date of next meeting

The next meeting was scheduled at 7.30 pm on the 9 January 2008.

The meeting closed at 9.10 pm.
