Kirstie Andrew-Power
As a family (with my husband and our two children) we play an active part in village life and are all passionate about Kings Worthy.
I am standing for Parish council as I would like to make a formal, positive contribution to our community. 18 years of working in education leadership has shown the success positive community can yield; there are many keen to be more involved in shaping the current and future needs of our ever-changing village, while maintaining traditional values. I am keen to ensure an elected Parish Council works hard to provide all parishioners with a voice.
Judith Steventon Baker
A Winchester City Council tenant, I moved to Kingsworthy in 2007 having lived and worked in Winchester for approximately 20 years. I am actively involved with Tubbs Hall, the Youth Club, Worthy Tenants & Leaseholders Association and a worshipper at St Marys Chapel. I also attend GetFit1-2-1 exercise classes for the over 50's held at Harwood Place, where I also assist with the monthly Tenant Saturday Surgery. I am passionate about our village and feel the Parish Council has an important role to play in representing the diverse needs of all the community, including Council and Housing Association tenants.

I live in Fraser Road as a private tenant. I have recently semi-retired, I still work for HCC part time as a bus surveyor, (I count people on and off buses). I am married to Joanna, and we have no children living at home, she works as a warehouse supervisor for a local charity. I wish to be a parish councillor because I believe this village is a very pleasant place to live. I want to represent the parishioners in shaping it for the future, to listen to their hopes and concerns and try to act on them.

I have lived in Winchester for the past 38 years, Kings Worthy for the past 8 years. I have a wife and daughter, two cats and dogs. The canine members of our family are elderly rescue dogs from The Dogs Trust, which we heavily support. I would like to become a member of the Parish Council as I feel it is time it had a more varied membership which represented all walks of Kings Worthy life, including tenants. This would create a more balanced perspective when certain decisions are made. My role on a Housing Association Committee would enhance my role on the Council should I be chosen.
Terry Bohle
I am a retired Senior Lecturer in Further and Higher Education. I have worked in various colleges, including twenty years at Guildford College. From Guildford I was seconded to work on Educational Aid Projects in Antigua, W. Indies, and Alexandria, Egypt, from 1974 to 1980. When my family and I returned to the UK, we settled in Badger Farm. In 1994 I took early retirement from Guildford College, and for family reasons went to live in Spain. We returned to the UK in 1998 to live in St Cross, and in 2007 moved to Kings Worthy: in 2009 I became a Governor of Kings Worthy Primary School.

I moved to the Kings Worthy in 1979 to work for Winchester City Council. I have been involved in voluntary work since moving to Winchester I have served on the friends of Kings Worthy & Henry Beaufort school committees, and sat on the committee to fight for free transport to Henry Beaufort for the children of Kings Worthy. I have served as Vice Chair of Winchester Carnival committee and I am secretary of Itchen Valley Training Society encouraging people to be responsible dog owners.
I assist the Volunteer Bureau in Winchester have recently been voted as the chairman of Hampshire Unison retired members group. I am also a neighbourhood watch coordinator and attend meeting with the police in making the neighbourhood a safer place.
I joined the Parish Council in 2008 as I felt that I wanted to give something to the community. With 27 years experience in local government I understand how it works. Sitting on the planning committee I have been able to put to good use the experience I have gained in my working life. I encouraged the Parish Council to upgrade its IT system which has been very beneficial in bringing the Parish Council into 2010.
If elected I will continue to strive to serve the parish to the best of my ability keeping an open mind on all matters.

I am standing for re-election to the Kings Worthy Parish Council on 27th May 2010.
I have worked on the KWPC for approximately 6 years and have been an active member of the Recreation & Amenities Committee. We have introduced a number of improvements such as new, refurbished and updated children’s play equipment. Also landscaping of various areas all of which involved liaison with the local residents. I am also on the Finance Committee and we have just introduced an improved accounting system which brings us in line with the latest financial management systems to help us to continue keeping a tight control on our budgets.
I would very much like to continue as a Councillor helping the Parish.
My wife and I are retired, have 3 adult children and 7 grand children which keeps us active and involved in their development. We have lived in Kings Worthy since 1999 and I am involved as a Panel Member of the Youth Justice Board working with young offenders between 12 and 18 years helping them to avoid re-offending and meeting with their “victims”.
Malcolm Prince

He is currently Chairman of the Worthy Scout Group and a member of the Village and Church Fete organising committee. After recently taking early retirement from the City, Malcolm is keen to play an active role in the community. To support all groups, from the young to the not so young, within Kings Worthy
to ensure a vibrant and active local community.
Listen to what people have to say and actively take issues forward, including
planning, safety and the environment. Ensure good use of Parish Council funds
and effective two way communication, with an emphasis on trust.

I have lived in Kings Worthy for most of my life. During my time on the Parish Council I have been Chairman of the Recreation and Amenities Committee which has been responsible for additional equipment at Eversley Park, the trim Trail and the senior persons exercise equipment to name but a few projects that have been provided by the 106 agreement funding, plus making sure that seats, bus shelters and the burial ground etc. are kept in order. Kings Worthy is a delightful place to live and if re elected I will do my utmost to keep it that way
Derek Smithers
I have been a Kings Worthy Parish Councillor for over 2 years and serve as a member of the Finance Committee. Linking with Winchester City Council and Community Action Hampshire, I initiated and chair the Parish Plan steering group. In the wider community, I am a member of HCC Older People's Well-Being Team and the Hampshire Voluntary Sector Consortium, and a trustee of Age Concern Hampshire. More recently I have been appointed a steering group member of the Hampshire Independent Equality Forum, and two Winchester area groups, the Over 55 Forum and Access For All.
Kim Torkington
I live in Kings Worthy with my husband and three children, we have been here for three years after we decided to move out of London. My background before I became a full-time mum was as project manager for Ufi Ltd (the holding company for the brand learndirect) which has charitable status and I worked in business and IT for ten years. I enjoyed working for the public sector and knowing that I was helping people in some small way through the provision of online learning was very satisfying.
I have always believed in supporting public services and to ensure that society has a safety net for people who need it. I haven't had any experience previously of being on a Parish Council but I would like to contribute to village life especially now I have children who are to grow up here. I am also an advocate of social inclusion and equality and strongly believe that everyone should be considered in any cultural debate, regardless of how complex their needs are. Additionally environmental issues are important to me, I like the mantra of 'think global and act local' and Kings Worthy is certainly a beautiful place to preserve.
Finally, I have a degree in Art History. My personal interests are Body Combat, Yoga, running, current affairs and I try to ensure I read a newspaper every day! Last but not least spending time with my family and friends.
Peter Warrener
I moved from London in 1976 to Oliver’s Battery, being employed by Hampshire County Council as a Road Safety Officer until retirement.
I have lived in Kings Worthy since 1980, serving on the Parish Council for some 8 years, being chair of the Recreation and Amenities committee and since May 2009, chairman of the Parish Council.
If elected I will strive to keep Kings Worthy the pleasant place that it is and would fight to keep the Parish Council democratic and free from politics.
For the benefit of the community I would like to achieve a better understanding with other groups.

Sarah White
I am a GP, working in local surgeries, married with an 11 year old son. I have been a Parish councillor for 2 years serving on the R&A committee, over the last year taking responsibility for writing the Parish Council newsletter. Co-opted as a Primary School Governor, I have been particularly active on the School Travel Plan and running the Cycle Training Scheme. I am Treasurer of the Worthys Youth Football Club as well as being an active parent supporter. I particularly represent families with children, but aim to maintain our beautiful village for parishioners of all ages and interests.
David Young
I moved to Kings Worthy with my wife and 2 daughters in 1996.
I have been a professionally qualified Commercial photographer for the last 30 years and until recently ran a large studio in Basingstoke, but now operate as a freelance out of Kings Worthy. My interests include travel, personal photography, reading, cooking and wine (drinking – not growing!).
Since I was Co-opted to the Parish Council July 2009 I have served on both the Recreation and Amenities Committee as well as the Finance Committee.
I find serving the local community as a non political Parish Councillor both challenging and rewarding.
