Introductions by Chairwoman
Speaker: Bob Whitmarsh - from Winchester Action on Climate Change (WinACC)
Bob gave a short talk defining climate change and introducing WinACC which was formed in the autumn 2007.
He took us through a list of the most effective ways individuals can reduce their impact on climate change. We were horrified by some of the waste that occurs in our society – eg. did you know that around one third of all shop-bought food is wasted? To save energy we were encouraged to think ‘reduce, re-use, recycle’.
His talk ended with a group discussion. We were all given a handy Top Tips Sheet to take away with us.

Refreshment Break – opportunity to talk with Councillors and Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator..
Springvale Rd Development
Several members of the public aired their concerns re Springvale Rd development. The changes proposed in Willis Way and the entry route from Springvale Rd were main concerns expressed.
School Lane Safety
After discussion of possibilities chairwoman stated views already received and asked company to vote on following proposal:
“that sign in London Rd be changed to a No Right Turn sign and that a
No Left Turn sign be erected in School Lane.” This was passed.
An Access Only sign would be discussed with Highways.
Three members favoured a No Entry sign to be erected at the top of the slope down to London Rd
County Councillor Jackie Porter hopes that the passed suggestion can be added to the Village 30 Initiative due to be implemented this autumn.
Meeting closed at 9.00pm
My thanks go to David and Sheila Pearcey for organising the refreshments.
