The Parish Council is an important part of local government. It is a corporate body, the first elected level of our three tier system of local authority and closest to the electorate. Councillors at this level are unpaid and politically non-aligned. There are over 8700 parish councils in England.
Headbourne Worthy Parish Council is one of 256 parish and town councils in Hampshire. It represents the interests and actively involves all parts of the whole community, articulating its needs and wishes, seeking to maintain the quality of life and character of the area and the provision of local services.
This it achieves through dialogue and liaison with residents, Winchester City Council, Hampshire County Council and other bodies involved in local government.
It safeguards the interests of all the village residents, and aims to create a sense of belonging, by ensuring that local opinions, views and concerns are effectively communicated to each appropriate body. |
