Recent Achievements of Headbourne Worthy Parish Council

  • Regular monitoring of Moto Cross site at Down Farm Lane, maintained in conjunction with other parish councils, Winchester City Council and Hampshire County Council. Public Inquiry held in November 2010 but delayed, resumed on 8 February 2011.

  • Following a public meeting on Draft Master plan for the proposed Barton
    Farm development, letter of objection submitted to WCC planning. Jan 2010.
    On going close liaison maintained with Winchester City Council on matters relating to this development. Public Inquiry commenced 8 Feb 2011

 

  • Following discussion with HCC new grit bin provided at junction of School Lane and Woodhouse Lane. Jan 2011

  • A contribution of £350 made to St Swithun’s Church for upkeep of churchyard, Jan 2011

  • A consultation survey undertaken with all residents in School Lane to ascertain their views /suggestions on improving road safety at the junction of School Lane and Worthy Road. Dec 2010 / Jan 2011.

  • Joint public meeting arranged together with Kings Worthy PC for residents to discuss/participate in the WCC ‘Blueprint’ consultation initiative on the future of our communities. Nov 2010. Headbourne Worthy views sent to WCC Dec 2010.

  • Community website www.theworthys.org.uk set up in joint partnership with Kings Worthy Parish Council, uniquely the first in Hampshire, went live September 2008. Since then it has won three major awards.
    In 2009 it received the HALC Best Local Council Website Award and then again in 2010 in a very close contest for this same award, it achieved third place.  In February 2010 it achieved another major accolade, the 7th Hantsweb Award for Best Public Service Website.

  • New parish council notice boards provided at the bottom of Nations Hill / Springvale Road Winter 2009 and at ‘the Good Life’ Farm Shop. Spring 2009.

  • White road safety railings repaired at the junction of Worthy Road/School Lane. Spring 2009.

  • Worthy Road Bus Shelter and 3 public bench seats refurbished Summer 2008 with a new replacement seat provided in School Lane Spring 2009.

  • Annual Village Spring Clean (in Mar / April) - litter pick from village footpaths, grassed areas and roadside verges.

  • ‘The Village 30 Programme’. Headbourne Worthy is one of the first parish councils to have successfully applied for the first tranche of this HCC initiative, to reduce the speed limits in local villages. Implemented October 2008.
