One Parish, Two Centres of Worship

St Mary’s is a charming and historic church, basically Norman, but largely remodelled in two stages by the Victorians.

In January 2000 the new Church Rooms were opened.

These have transformed for worship and the facilities it offers, with a permanent home for the ‘Little Fishes’, junior church, a new Choir Vestry, an office and flexible meeting rooms, together with facilities such as kitchen and toilets.

This is all attached to the church and blends in so sympathetically with the original building that visitors imagine the rooms have been there for decades.

The Church Rooms are currently used by a monthly luncheon club for the over 70s, a weekly toddler group and some deanery and diocesan meetings, as well as many meetings of the church and its committees, and for fellowship after Sunday morning services.

The Chapel, also known as St Mary’s Church Hall, Fraser Road, Springvale, was built during the seventies and is the second centre of worship. Services are held at the chapel three times a month on Sundays.

The chapel offers flexibility, with a small side chapel, and a meeting room also available for small groups.

The main hall is used regularly for community activities - as a movable screen protects the altar area.
